Privacy Policy

Tillevent is an app that helps people organize and join outings near them in Montréal. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it and what your rights are.

Tillevent is operated by Julien Romary, doing business as Tillevent ("Tillevent", "we"). We comply with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and applicable Canadian laws. The French version of this policy prevails in case of discrepancy.

2. Information we collect

Your account

Your email address, used to sign you in with a code (Tillevent does not use passwords).
Your first name, interests and preferred language (French or English).
The date you accepted our terms and confirmed you are 18 or older.

Outings you create

Title, category, date and time, neighbourhood, exact meeting place, number of spots, and an optional description and photo.

Your participation and messages

The outings you join and the messages you send in their group chats.

Community safety

Reports you send (reason, details, and a copy of the reported message if applicable) and the people you block.

Technical data

Server logs (IP address, date and time of requests), kept by our hosting provider for security and to keep the service running.

What we don't do: we don't track your device's location, we don't access your contacts, we don't ask for your phone number or date of birth, we don't show targeted ads and we never sell personal information.

Before a photo is uploaded, the app re-compresses it on your device, which removes its metadata, including the GPS location where it was taken.

3. Why we use it

To create your account, sign you in and keep access secure.
To show outings and let you organize them, join them and talk with other participants.
To protect the community: handle reports, enforce blocks, and prevent fraud and abuse.
To send emails required by the service (sign-in codes) and, once available, notifications you can turn off.
To meet our legal obligations.

We only use your information for these purposes. If we wanted to use it for another purpose, we would ask for your consent first, unless the law provides otherwise.

4. Who can see what

When you block someone, or someone blocks you, you no longer see each other's outings or messages.

5. Our providers and transfers outside Québec

We rely on providers to run Tillevent. They only use your information to provide their services to us.

Supabase: database, authentication and photo storage. Your data is hosted in Canada (Canada Central region).
Resend: sends sign-in emails. Processes your email address on servers located in the United States.
Hostinger: hosts the tillevent.com website and domain name.
Apple and Google: app distribution, maps (Apple Maps or Google Maps) and, where applicable, notification delivery.

Before communicating personal information outside Québec, we assess the privacy-related factors and make sure the information will receive adequate protection, as required by law.

6. How long we keep it

Your information is kept for as long as your account is active.
You can delete your account at any time, directly in the app (Profile > Delete my account). Your account, profile, outings, participation, messages and blocks are then immediately erased from our databases. Automatic backup copies are erased within 30 days.
Reports about you are kept without any link to your identity, for as long as needed for community safety, and for no more than two years.
Technical logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider.

7. How we protect it

All communications are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
Your session is encrypted on your device, with a key kept in the system's secure vault (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).
Strict access rules are enforced directly by the database: everyone only accesses what they are allowed to see.
No passwords are stored: you sign in with a single-use code that expires quickly.
Administrative access is limited to what is strictly necessary.

If a confidentiality incident occurs, we take steps to reduce its consequences, record it in a register and, if it presents a risk of serious injury, notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people affected.

8. Your rights

At any time, you can:

access the personal information we hold about you;
have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
get a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format;
withdraw your consent and have your information deleted, including by deleting your account.

To exercise these rights, write to confidentialite@tillevent.com from the email address linked to your account. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

9. Minimum age

Tillevent is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information about minors. If you believe a minor is using the app, write to us and we will delete their account.

10. Cookies

The app uses no advertising cookies or advertising trackers. The tillevent.com website uses no tracking cookies.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make a significant change, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
